{"id":10383,"date":"2019-10-09T11:06:30","date_gmt":"2019-10-09T09:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/el-ayuntamiento-de-mojacar-organiza-su-tradicional-comida-de-la-tercera-edad\/"},"modified":"2019-10-10T13:07:59","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T11:07:59","slug":"mojacar-council-holds-annual-lunch-party-for-their-senior-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/mojacar-council-holds-annual-lunch-party-for-their-senior-residents\/","title":{"rendered":"Moj\u00e1car Council Holds Annual Lunch Party for their senior residents"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>One of the final events organised by Moj\u00e1car Council in honour of their Patron Saint, Virgen del Rosario, was the meal to celebrate the town\u2019s senior residents.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>This traditional lunch party has been held now for a number of years and 140 guests were treated to a lunchtime meal with dancing at The Puntazo Hotel, accompanied by the Mayor, Rosa Mar\u00eda Cano, the 3rd Age Councillor, Ana Garc\u00eda, and Citizen Security Councillor, Mar\u00eda Luisa P\u00e9rez, along with the local Parish Priest, Miguel Jos\u00e9 Esteban Jerez.<br \/>\n\tIt is a party that is given with a great deal of affection and, every effort is made to make it a full and fun day for everyone. Anyone who is 65 and registered on the Moj\u00e1car Padron can apply for a ticket and every year more people, including numerous nationalities, attend. The British community particularly takes part in many of the local Council activities organized, including Edna Thirlaway, one of Moj\u00e1car&#8217;s most well-loved veterans, who at 94 years of age maintains her zest for Spanish life, still joining in with the Council\u2019s senior exercise classes.<br \/>\nThe lunch was followed by hours of dancing with live music, with the seniors showing off their fitness and enthusiasm for a party, regardless of age or nationality. The much anticipated raffle was also held, which many local businesses contributing prizes to add to the 3 large hams given by the Council as the most enviable gifts.<br \/>\nAna Garc\u00eda, stressed how important these happy events are in getting people together to enjoy each other\u2019s company, complementing the Council\u2019s other work to help and support the town\u2019s seniors.
