{"id":10979,"date":"2020-03-05T11:27:52","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T09:27:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/?p=10979"},"modified":"2020-03-05T11:27:52","modified_gmt":"2020-03-05T09:27:52","slug":"archaelogical-studies-scholarship-presented-in-mojacar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/archaelogical-studies-scholarship-presented-in-mojacar\/","title":{"rendered":"Archaeological Studies Scholarship Presented in Moj\u00e1car"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Archaeological Studies Scholarship Presented in Moj\u00e1car<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p> The second Valpara\u00edso Foundation CH Study Scholarship was recently presented to student Noelia Aguado for her study and research of ceramic remains at the Moj\u00e1car La Vieja site, the old settlement of the town.<br \/>\nThe award ceremony took place at the Foundation&#8217;s Centre in Moj\u00e1car with local Tourism Councillor and project developer, Emmanuel Ag\u00fcero, Project Director and professor of History and Medieval Archaeology at Granada University, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Mart\u00edn Civantos and his colleague Julio Rom\u00e1n, a researcher in the Medieval History and Historiographic Technical Sciences Department. It is under these academics direction, that Noelia will continue her studies in Granada\u2019s Medieval History Department.<br \/>\n\tThe scholarship was awarded by the President of the Foundation, Beatrice Beckett, along with members of the Valpara\u00edso Foundation, Chispa L\u00f3pez Casas and Javier Almagro. The Foundation\u2019s purpose is to support cultural creation and research and, through the CH Scholarships and collaboration agreements with Moj\u00e1car Council and the Granada University, Noelia has been awarded 3,600 Euros to assist her postgraduate studies.<br \/>\nThe archaeological investigations have taken place over the last two years, due to Moj\u00e1car Council\u2019s initiative, involving a research team with proven archaeological and research experience. Granada University\u2019s MEMOLAB Biocultural Archaeology Laboratory has an expert excavation team with new information technology, teaching and analysis methods with an extensive international network to disseminate their findings.<br \/>\nGiven the dimensions and potential of Moj\u00e1car la Vieja after the first two excavation campaigns, the meticulous investigation, dating and cataloguing of the ceramic materials found requires a postgraduate graduate student in the team of archaeologists under the direction of Dr. Julio Rom\u00e1n, a role which is now in place.<br \/>\nOn the day of the award, a guided visit was made to the site led by Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Mart\u00edn Civantos, where he revealed the latest findings after the last months of work at the University.  It was also an opportunity for the Valpara\u00edso Foundation Board, the Council\u2019s project promoter, Emmanuel Ag\u00fcero and the University excavations directors to put together new work strategies for this year\u2019s Moj\u00e1car la Vieja campaign as well as plans for the future in view of the great relevance of the remains found in the old Mojaquero settlement.
