{"id":15358,"date":"2021-05-14T12:59:28","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T10:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/?p=15358"},"modified":"2021-05-14T12:59:28","modified_gmt":"2021-05-14T10:59:28","slug":"mojacar-san-isidro-fiesta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/mojacar-san-isidro-fiesta\/","title":{"rendered":"Moj\u00e1car celebrates San Isidro with a Flamenco Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Moj\u00e1car will celebrate the San Isidro 2021 festival next Saturday 15th May, although due to the health restrictions the traditional \u201cromer\u00eda\u201d, or religious pilgrimage, is cancelled.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\tFor this year, Moj\u00e1car Council has planned a religious celebration which will take place in the Multipurpose Centre at 8.30pm.<br \/>\n\tAt 9pm, also in the Multipurpose Centre, a flamenco show staged by Azahara Herrera will follow with a programme in honour of San Isidro, the patron saint of Moj\u00e1car, which has for decades recalled the locality\u2019s agricultural roots and its traditional link to the rural world.<br \/>\n\tAzahara Herrera, flamenco dancer and choreographer, was born in Almer\u00eda, although he has been based in Madrid since 2010.<br \/>\n\t He works professionally in the capital in the top flamenco venues and national theatres together with the major national artistic companies.<br \/>\n\tHe studied at the Almer\u00eda Professional Dance Conservatory and in Madrid he graduated from the \u201cMar\u00eda de \u00c1vila\u201d Superior Dance Conservatory in the speciality of Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography and Performance.<br \/>\n\tIn \u201cEl Ahora\u201d, the show he is putting on in Moj\u00e1car, taking centre stage is traditional flamenco from a new perspective, at no point losing touch with its roots and artistic authenticity. It is accompanied by the flamenco singers Cristo Heredia and Antonio \u201cEl Genial\u201d. The maestro Jos\u00e9 Bellido is on guitar.<br \/>\n\tThe show is free, although Moj\u00e1car Council\u2019s Festivities Department wants to emphasize that anyone interested in attending needs to make a reservation as due to the social distancing established by the health authorities capacity is limited and it is necessary to book a seat.<br \/>\n\tThe San Isidro Fiestas go back as long as anyone can remember, when the \u201cromer\u00eda\u201d was the main draw of the celebration. Then, there were horse-drawn carts and the children met at the fountain for a sweet \u201cmatch\u201d, which was settled by throwing meringues at each other.<br \/>\n\tThe gathering has been kept up for years, but the missiles have been replaced by water balloons and the carts by beautifully adorned vehicles.<br \/>\n\tWith minor modifications in keeping with new technology, Moj\u00e1car\u2019s customs and traditions, chiselled over centuries, live on.<br \/>\n\t Last year it had to be cancelled and for this edition, families and friends will again be unable to keep the pilgrimage tradition.
