{"id":16110,"date":"2021-09-07T17:38:13","date_gmt":"2021-09-07T15:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/rosa-maria-cano-realiza-una-visita-al-yacimiento-mojacar-la-vieja\/"},"modified":"2021-09-07T19:01:23","modified_gmt":"2021-09-07T17:01:23","slug":"rosa-maria-cano-visits-mojacar-la-vieja-dig","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/rosa-maria-cano-visits-mojacar-la-vieja-dig\/","title":{"rendered":"Rosa Mar\u00eda Cano visits &#8220;Moj\u00e1car La Vieja&#8221; dig."},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Moj\u00e1car Mayor, Rosa Mar\u00eda Cano, joined by Tourism Councillor, Emmanuel Ag\u00fcero, and the Director of the Local Council\u2019s Tourism Department, Carmen Garc\u00eda Campoy, has paid a visit to \u201cMoj\u00e1car la Vieja\u201d and the works being carried out in the 2021 excavation campaign.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\tMoj\u00e1car Mayor, Rosa Mar\u00eda Cano, joined by Tourism Councillor, Emmanuel Ag\u00fcero, and the Director of the Local Council\u2019s Tourism Department, Carmen Garc\u00eda Campoy, has paid a visit to \u201cMoj\u00e1car la Vieja\u201d and the works being carried out in the 2021 excavation campaign.<br \/>\n\tAccompanied by Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Civantos, coordinator of the Memolab biocultural archaeological laboratory, which is part of the University of Granada\u2019s Medieval History Department, the Moj\u00e1car Mayor was able to see on the ground the great advances made so far.<br \/>\n\tDespite the 2021 campaign being much shorter than in previous years, there has been a great deal of progress: the theories which the archaeologists have been developing over the two years of study have been consolidated, and, most importantly for the moment, they are reinforcing and protecting the remains already uncovered in order to preserve them until next year when work is resumed.<br \/>\n\tDuring the visit Rosa Mar\u00eda Cano had the opportunity to exchange views about future actions which will be carried out in the next few years and expressed her complete support, and that of Moj\u00e1car Council, for this project, as well as for the major importance of Moj\u00e1car la Vieja for understanding the people and the culture of the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries when the town was first established, until it moved to the location we know now. She also wanted to highlight its restoration as an important added value to the locality\u2019s tourism offer, already one of the most important in the province.<br \/>\n\tNext Thursday 9th September, the results of the latest works and studies carried out up to date will be presented in the Plaza del Front\u00f3n at 9pm.
