{"id":19517,"date":"2023-03-20T11:01:01","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T09:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/?p=19517"},"modified":"2023-03-20T11:01:01","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T09:01:01","slug":"mojacar-irish-catholic-community-saint-patrick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/mojacar-irish-catholic-community-saint-patrick\/","title":{"rendered":"Moj\u00e1car\u00b4s irish community celebrates the Festivity of its Patron Saint."},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Moj\u00e1car\u00b4s irish community celebrates the Festivity of its Patron Saint.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\tMoj\u00e1car\u2019s Irish Catholic community has celebrated the festivity of its patron saint, Saint Patrick, in the Santa Mar\u00eda Parish Church.<br \/>\n\tThe mass was celebrated by the Moj\u00e1car Parish Priest, V\u00edctor Manuel Fern\u00e1ndez, who conducted the service in English and Spanish.<br \/>\n\tThe councillors Francisco Garc\u00eda Cerd\u00e1, Mar\u00eda Luisa P\u00e9rez and Ana Garc\u00eda, members of the local council\u2019s government team, were present at the mass, sharing with their Irish neighbours this big day for the community.<br \/>\n\tThe parish priest called on the Irish faithful to share other important celebrations on the Spanish or Irish Catholic calendar on more occasions, an invitation that was welcomed by the faithful.<br \/>\n\tSaint Patrick was a missionary, preacher throughout Britain. In his youth he was captured by Scottish pirates and enslaved in Ireland. After seven years of captivity he managed to escape.<br \/>\n\tFollowing a vision he decided to return to Ireland as a missionary and ended up becoming a preacher of the gospel in Ireland. He adapted well to the social conditions of the place, forming a local clergy and several Christian communities, respecting the traditions and customs of the inhabitants. He was known as the Apostle of Ireland, where it was believed he died of old age about the year 461.<br \/>\n\tOnce the mass was concluded, the Irish residents celebrated their big festivity in the different establishments of that nationality in the municipality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Moj\u00e1car\u00b4s irish community celebrates the Festivity of its Patron Saint.
