{"id":20847,"date":"2023-08-31T12:58:57","date_gmt":"2023-08-31T10:58:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/una-tortuga-marina-puesta-la-playa-mojacar\/"},"modified":"2023-09-01T18:39:11","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T16:39:11","slug":"una-tortuga-marina-puesta-la-playa-mojacar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/una-tortuga-marina-puesta-la-playa-mojacar\/","title":{"rendered":"A marine turtle lays its eggs on a Moj\u00e1car beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p> Just a few days after the end of the \u201cMoj\u00e1car, here we save turtles\u201d campaign, organised by the town\u2019s Local Council, the Junta de Andaluc\u00eda and other institutions, a loggerhead turtle chose the beaches of Moj\u00e1car to lay its eggs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\tA female, already monitored by the University of Valencia and the Polytechnic University through the INGENI Project, financed by the Biodiversity Foundation, last Tuesday chose the Descargador beach in Moj\u00e1car to lay its eggs.<br \/>\nAlerted by a local resident, the protocol was put into operation and the nest protected. Over approximately an hour and a half the turtle laid 92 eggs.<br \/>\nThe location, a very busy beach, the proximity to the sea and other considerations assessed by the experts, made apparent the lack of conditions to guarantee the success of the laying. Under these circumstances, the experts who went to the location of the nesting took the decision to collect the eggs with a specialised technique and proceed to their incubation in different institutions that collaborate with the Regional Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy Ministry.<br \/>\n\tFrom the first moment, the Moj\u00e1car Local Police was in charge of the protection of the animal, arriving immediately and putting themselves at the disposition of the rest of the authorities, who also went there immediately: Environment, General Directorate of Coasts and specialised experts in the subject.<br \/>\n\tIt is not the first time that the loggerhead turtle, which is currently at risk of extinction, has chosen the beach of Moj\u00e1car to lay its eggs.
