{"id":6987,"date":"2017-11-24T14:22:02","date_gmt":"2017-11-24T12:22:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/?p=6987"},"modified":"2017-11-24T20:18:50","modified_gmt":"2017-11-24T18:18:50","slug":"mojacar-visit-institute-rey-alabez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/mojacar-visit-institute-rey-alabez\/","title":{"rendered":"Moj\u00e1car\u00b4s  Rey Alabez pupils take part in the &#8220;Live and Feel your Heritage&#8221; Programme."},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Forty five pupils from Moj\u00e1car\u2019s Rey Alabez Institute, recently accompanied their teachers and toured their town\u2019s most emblematic buildings and characteristic places as part of the Ministry of Education\u2019s programme \u201cVivir y Sentir el Patrimonio\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Guided by staff from the Tourism Office, it was a chance to see and hear at first hand the story of old Moj\u00e1car, especially the history of the Reconquest in the area.<br \/>\nThe walking route began at the Fuente, where there was also a chance to take in the current photography exhibition at the \u201cCentro de Arte La Fuente.\u201d   Then, taking the old hill, Cuesta de la Fuente, that for centuries gave access to the town, they ascended to the old town to make a stop at the historic town entrance, the \u201cArco de la Ciudad\u201d or \u201cPuerta de la Almedia\u201d, where they discovered the story behind Moj\u00e1car\u2019s coat of arms.<br \/>\nThey then continued to the Plaza del Parterre, with its relief scenes of the Reconquest reproduced from Toledo Cathedral\u2019s interior seating.  From the nearby statue of the Mojaquera, it was time to visit the Church, Iglesia de Santa Mar\u00eda and, hear some details about the beautifully painted fresco inside.<br \/>\nSome of the pupils also had the chance to act as guides, giving descriptions to their group, such as Andrea, who explained the Indalo\u2019s origin then Mar\u00eda and Ana who told their companions the old romantic legend surrounding the cave, the Cueva de Mariquita la Posada.<br \/>\nAlong the way, they learnt the origin of some of the street names and the importance of their town, meeting the project\u2019s aim &#8220;to live and feel your heritage&#8221;.
