{"id":7007,"date":"2017-11-29T10:27:28","date_gmt":"2017-11-29T08:27:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/?p=7007"},"modified":"2017-11-29T10:27:28","modified_gmt":"2017-11-29T08:27:28","slug":"mojacar-holds-open-air-piano-concert-honour-santa-cecilia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/mojacar-holds-open-air-piano-concert-honour-santa-cecilia\/","title":{"rendered":"Moj\u00e1car holds open air piano concert in honour of Santa Cecilia."},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Students from Moj\u00e1car\u2019s Municipal Music School recently gave a piano concert in the town\u2019s Plaza del Parterre to celebrate the Day of Santa Cecilia, who is the Patron Saint of Music.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Directed by their teacher, Yolanda Parra Niederhauser, fourteen young pianists performed a selection of classical pieces from the great masters, including Pachenbell and Beethoven, as well as some well-known popular tunes for the young ones.<br \/>\nThe stage was set by the charming Santa Mar\u00eda Church, which was built in the sixteenth century on the site of an old Arab mosque.  The two pianos opened the programme with the popular tango melody, &#8220;La Cumparsita&#8221;, when \u00c1ngela Montoya, Olalla Ma\u00f1ero, Clara S\u00e1nchez and Uxue Urmeneta played simultaneous duets, showing a very high level of skill working in unison.  The performance of \u201cMoonlight Shadow\u201d was also a highlight, with the voice of \u00c1ngela Montoya accompanied by Mar\u00eda Presa on piano.<br \/>\nRaquel Belmonte and Ana Garc\u00eda (Moj\u00e1car Councillors for Culture and Education respectively) joined the audience and expressed their delight at the students\u2019 progress adding &#8220;the School and the teachers are prepared for all types of students, whatever their level.<br \/>\nThe Municipal School of Music and Dance has about 200 students and one of the new projects for the new academic year is the creation of a choir and a new Music Band that will includes the very youngest students, along with those taking their first musical steps.
