{"id":8115,"date":"2018-08-01T09:54:11","date_gmt":"2018-08-01T07:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/?p=8115"},"modified":"2018-08-01T09:54:11","modified_gmt":"2018-08-01T07:54:11","slug":"mojacar-la-vieja-site-is-visited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/mojacar-la-vieja-site-is-visited\/","title":{"rendered":"Moj\u00e1car la Vieja site is visited by Almer\u00eda\u00b4s culture director and head of museums."},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Almer\u00eda\u00b4s Culture, Tourism and Sports Director from the Junta de Andaluc\u00eda, Alfredo Valdivia Ayala, together with \u00c1ngela Suarez, Department Head of Museums and Culture, visited the excavations that the University of Granada and the Biocultural Archaeology Laboratories have been busy working on at Moj\u00e1car la Vieja. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\tMoj\u00e1car\u00b4s Mayor, Rosmari Cano, along with Emmanuel Ag\u00fcero, the Councillor for Tourism, joined them to visit the ancient site to talk about the importance of the findings made by the archaeologists in \u2018Old Moj\u00e1car\u2019, as well as the magnitude of the discoveries and their relevance to the cultural legacy of Almer\u00eda\u00b4s Levante area.<br \/>\n\tThey all had the chance to tour La Vieja with research leader, Granada University Professor Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Martin Chivancos, who outlined the progress that has been made from the studies carried out during July, along with the initial conclusions. They also had the opportunity to discuss<br \/>\nfuture projects that will allow further recovery works in the area.<br \/>\nAlthough the research team will now need to carry out further analysis on the remains they have found in order to make their final conclusions, it is clear that Moj\u00e1car was one of the first Islamic settlements in Almer\u00eda\u00b4s Levante.
