{"id":8751,"date":"2018-11-19T18:55:59","date_gmt":"2018-11-19T16:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/?p=8751"},"modified":"2018-11-19T19:00:48","modified_gmt":"2018-11-19T17:00:48","slug":"mojacar-the-theatre-comes-to-mojacar-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/mojacar-the-theatre-comes-to-mojacar-school\/","title":{"rendered":"The Theatre comes to Moj\u00e1car\u2019s School"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Moj\u00e1car\u2019s Bartolom\u00e9 Flores primary schoolchildren were treated to a morning of theatre presented by youngsters of the same age group from Pulp\u00ed School.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Two plays were on the programme, first being \u201cLa Princesa Que No Sab\u00eda Estornudar\u201d, a tale about problems that arise in the palace when they try to cure the Princess with help from an assortment of wise men, fairies and doctors. This was followed by &#8220;Chez le Docteur&#8221;, which was acted in French (set at a suitably easy level), with the story set in a doctor&#8217;s waiting room.<br \/>\nAlmost 300 children gathered in the town\u2019s Edificio de Usos M\u00faltiples, watching and listening attentively to the presentation given by their counterparts from Pulp\u00ed, an event which is part of the Culture Programme designed by Almer\u00eda&#8217;s Provincial Council in co-ordination with Moj\u00e1car Council.<br \/>\nRaquel Belmonte, the local Councillor for Culture, highlighted the importance of these activities that, &#8220;encourage reading and an interest in the theatre which has a great tradition in Moj\u00e1car, from the youngest through to the oldest.&#8221;<br \/>\n\tMoj\u00e1car was the first town, almost a century ago, in the Almer\u00eda province to have its own theatre, which was named &#8220;Aquelarre&#8221; and was owned by the former mayor of Moj\u00e1car, Diego Carrillo. They put on well-known plays that all the townspeople took part in and today there is an important theatrical group in the locality which has retained the old name of &#8220;Aquelarre&#8221;, the little theatre that played to so many full houses.<br \/>\n\tThis initiative to bring an element of theatre to the classroom is a very important educational tool to assist children\u2019s learning as it improves language, understanding and, especially expression.
