The day out was part of a full programme of activities throughout the year that the Council puts together for the older residents of the town that includes amongst others; courses, workshops, talks and exercise classes, all with the aim of improving their quality of life and self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Along with Third Age Councillor, Ana Garc\u00eda, around 50 people from various nationalities visited the Cabo de Gata Lighthouse, the Sirens Reef, the Botanical Gardens at Rodalquilar, Albardinar and the Mirador at La Isleta.  The guided tour of these very unique and staggeringly beautiful places ended with  a lunch at the seaside town of San Jos\u00e9.<br \/>\n\tAna Garc\u00eda stressed the importance that this type of activity makes to the older generation saying, &#8220;along with the care of the mind and body, we must also pay attention to the spirit and arouse their desire to live to see and do new things.&#8221; She also highlighted her own rewarding personal experience in spending a day with with the group of seniors &#8220;from who you can learn so many things as well as catch some of their happiness.&#8221;<br \/>\n\tThe whole excursion went off perfectly and was a huge success, with the added bonus of splendid weather.  With a bus provided by Moj\u00e1car Council, the day trippers are keen to have a repeat outing and are already asking about the next date and destination.
