{"id":8907,"date":"2018-12-11T09:38:12","date_gmt":"2018-12-11T07:38:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/?p=8907"},"modified":"2018-12-11T09:38:12","modified_gmt":"2018-12-11T07:38:12","slug":"mojacar-aquelarre-theatre-group-close-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/mojacar-aquelarre-theatre-group-close-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Moj\u00e1car\u00b4s \u201cAquelarre\u201d Theatre Group close season."},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Moj\u00e1car\u2019s own acting group, &#8220;Aquelarre&#8221;, has been charged with closing this year\u2019s month-long theatre season, which has been organized by Moj\u00e1car Council and Almer\u00eda&#8217;s Provincial Council with the aim of bringing this art form to towns across the  region.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Aquelarre&#8221; have chosen a play by the writer Neil Sim\u00f3n, \u201cUn cad\u00e1ver a Los Postres\u201d to premiere to its Moj\u00e1car audience, bringing the highly anticipated series of theatrical events to a perfect end.  The plot of the play is set over a dinner, where the world\u2019s best detectives are invited and then told that a murder will take place when the desserts are served.<br \/>\n\t The &#8220;Aquelarre&#8221; group follows Moj\u00e1car\u2019s theatrical tradition which goes back many years ago to a time when the town had the first theatre in Almer\u00eda province.  It is currently made up of 60 amateur actors and, is a full-fledged company with set and costume designers, make-up artists, lighting specialists and so on, all people from Moj\u00e1car working under the direction of Joaqu\u00edn S\u00e1ez and Eliseo Mart\u00ednez.<br \/>\n\t\tDespite having been formed a short time ago, the group have already performed six different plays throughout the province, including &#8220;Indalo&#8221;, an original work by one of the directors, Joaqu\u00edn S\u00e1ez.<br \/>\nA non-profit organisation, all box office proceeds are ploughed into the purchase of  necessary items for the running of the group , although they do have additional support and collaboration from Moj\u00e1car Council.  Their performance on December 15th is part of Moj\u00e1car\u2019s Christmas programme, but they also have a wide agenda of projects in mind, including a new play and short film, \u201cEl Cuadro\u201d.<br \/>\n\t\tThey also hang onto a dream which is an important part of their motivation and driving force and, that is to reopen the doors of a theatre in Moj\u00e1car and replicate the old, much loved Mojaquero theatre &#8220;Aquelarre&#8221;, built almost a century ago and whose name this new theatrical grouping have adopted.<br \/>\nThankfully, photographs of the old theatre and shows still exist, revealing a love of drama full of nostalgic memories.
