Music open the way for Moors and Christians festivities with the 3rd “Al Mosaquer” competition in Mojácar

This Saturday 17th of May at 7pm, Mojácar’s Multi-Uses Centre will host the final concert of the 3rd National ‘Al-Mosaquer’ Moors and Christian Marches Composition Competition, an event that marks the beginning of the festive atmosphere in the locality with its Moors and Christians festivities; and which reaffirms the municipality’s commitment to music, tradition and cultural projection as an engine for tourism.

In this edition, dedicated to the Moors march speciality, the Mojácar Municipal Music Band, conducted by Miguel Ángel Miranda Sevillano, will perform the four finalist works: ‘Amazic’, ‘Arrabal’, “Cimitarra” and “Sabil”. These compositions have been selected by a mixed jury of musicians and local representatives, standing out for their artistic quality and their roots in the festive spirit of the Moorish troops.

The event will conclude with the performance of the winning marches from previous editions, strengthening the continuity and consolidation of this contest as an essential fixture in the municipality’s festive and cultural calendar.

“Mojácar Council is deeply proud to support this competition, which brings together tradition, musical talent and community spirit. Music is an essential part of our festivities and this competition promotes its evolution and creativity, as well as projecting the name of Mojácar beyond our borders”, stated the Mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García Cerdá.

Ginés Gallardo, spokesperson for the ‘Al-Mosaquer’ Association, emphasized that, “This concert is the starting gun for our festivities. It is a way of getting warmed up, to begin experiencing the festive atmosphere that defines Mojácar at this time of year.”
