MOJÁCAR: The municipality celebrates Book Day 2026 with an ambitious cultural programme for all ages
From the 18th to the 26th of April, the locality hosts storytelling, literature, documentary films, creative workshops, and live music.
To celebrate International Book Day, the Local Council presents a week packed with activities designed to promote reading, creativity, and social inclusion.
With a varied programme, municipal venues are turned into the epicentre of culture from Saturday 18th of April to Sunday 26th of April.
Literary launch and documentary film
The activities began on Saturday 18th of April at 11.30am in the Municipal Library with the “El camión volador” (The flying truck), children’s storytelling session by José Miguel Sanz Mira, an event designed to spark the imaginations of the very youngest.
On Thursday 23rd of April, the big day for literature, the “Perdidos por los libros” (Lost in Books) Book Club met at 7pm in the municipal library to discuss the classic “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The programme will continue on Friday 24th at 7.30pm in the Senior Citizens’ Centre with a screening of “Hacia el bosque” (Into the forest), a documentary about Autism”, a documentary made by Oscar Gagliardi and Agustín Ernesto Martínez.

Weekend of street activities and music

On Saturday 25th of April, the activities move on to the streets with an intensive day:
• 11.30am (Plaza Arbollón): Fan painting workshop. Places are limited and require prior registration by calling 674 784 191.
• 12pm (Plaza Arbollón): Grand literary Gymkhana through the village streets, a fun way to connect literature with the beautiful urban environment of Mojácar.
• 8pm (Multi-Uses Centre): Musical grand finale with the show “Trashumancia” by Julio Béjar, which will mix live music and poetry, with free admission until capacity is reached.

Artistic Closing

To end the week, on Sunday 26th of April at 12.30pm, the La Fuente Art Centre will inaugurate the group exhibition “Pintando la vida para que no destiña” (Painting life so it doesn’t fade), featuring works by the artists García de la Torre, Beatriz Onieva, and Gato Pardo.
