Mojácar consolidates the excellence of its coastline: six Blue Flags and top-quality certifications for the 2026 season

The municipality reaffirms its tourism leadership by obtaining one more Blue Flag than in 2025, also adding prestigious certifications in Quality and Sustainability.

MOJÁCAR, ALMERÍA – 6th of May 2026 – Mojácar has once again positioned itself as an undisputed benchmark for quality tourism in the Mediterranean, being one of the Andalucian municipalities with the highest number of flags and the municipality with the most awards in the Levante region of Almería. For another year, the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) has awarded the Blue Flag distinction to six of its beaches, recognising the excellence of its waters, safety, and the provision of top-notch services.

The beaches that will be displaying this award are: Marina de la Torre, El Descargador, Piedra Villazar, El Cantal, Lance Nuevo, and Venta del Bancal-Ventanicas. This milestone maintains the municipality’s historic high, a trajectory of success that began in 1991 and which today covers almost its entire urban coastline.

The municipality has passed the rigorous annual assessment that certifies it meets the most demanding international standards in four key areas:

Bathing Water Excellence: This requires “Excellent” water quality based on regular analyses that guarantee the health of bathers. Environmental Management and Safety: This involves a professional deployment of lifeguards, first-aid personnel, and surveillance teams, as well as thorough cleaning of the sand. Services and Facilities: This guarantees the presence of clean toilets, recycling bins, and, as a priority, full accessibility for people with reduced mobility. Environmental Education: The municipality organises a significant number of activities to raise awareness among residents and visitors about the importance of protecting the marine and coastal ecosystem.

Beyond the Blue Flag, Mojácar’s coastline stands out for its comprehensive management, backed by the most demanding certifications in the sector. Several of these beaches also boast the ‘Q’ for Tourism Quality and the ‘S’ for Sustainability, awarded by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE).

In addition, the municipality’s commitment is reflected in the SICTED Quality Certification (Spanish Integrated System for Tourism Quality in Destinations), which guarantees service and management standards that place Mojácar at the forefront of national tourism. The Mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García Cerdá, has expressed his pride in these recognitions, highlighting the human and technical effort behind each flag.
“Mojácar is, by vocation and through its management, a sustainable municipality. Our aim is not only to maintain what we have, but to continue improving. We have achieved one more Blue Flag than in 2025, so these six Blue Flags, along with the Q and S certifications, are a success and the result of a firm commitment to the protection of our natural environment and ensuring full accessibility”, the Mayor stated.
“We are working to ensure that everyone, regardless of their mobility, can enjoy our waters safely and comfortably. Mojácar offers not only beauty, it offers guarantees,” the Mayor concluded.
