Mojácar is getting ready to officially kick off Christmas on the 29th of November with a day full of activities that will combine magic, tradition and music in an atmosphere designed for family enjoyment.

As every year, the Disney Party, the Disney Concert performed by the Mojácar Municipal Band, and the Official Switching on of the Christmas Lights will be the highlights of an afternoon that will launch a Christmas programme highly looked forward to by residents and visitors.

From 12 noon, Mojácar Pueblo will be transformed into a world of fantasy thanks to its themed decorations, Disney characters, photo backdrops, and ambient music. The little ones will be able to enjoy workshops and children’s activities throughout the day in various squares around the village.

Throughout the day, those going along will also be able to enjoy a food trucks zone, set up for the occasion, where families and visitors can savour a wide variety of culinary offerings while going round the village and immersing themselves in the Disney atmosphere.

At 5.30pm the magic will come to life with the Disney Concert performed by the Mojácar Municipal Band, one of the municipality’s best loved and emblematic groups, accompanied by several local singers. The band will offer a repertoire specially prepared for the occasion, featuring some of the most iconic melodies from the Disney universe.

After the concert, there will be one of the most eagerly anticipated moments for families: the Christmas Lights Switch-On Gala, in which, as is tradition, the children of Mojácar will have the responsibility of pressing the button that will light up the municipality.

The switching on will mark the start of a Christmas programme packed with activities, among which stand out the traditional Flamenco Zambomba, which will once again fill the streets of Mojácar with flamenco rhythms and carols. This activity, with deep roots in the municipality, and followed by hundreds of residents, will be one of the most special moments of December’s cultural agenda.

Workshops, concerts, family activities, nativity scenes, tours, and local offerings will complete a programme designed to revitalise the municipality and offer something for all ages.

The Mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García, expressed his satisfaction with the eagerly awaited start of Christmas in the municipality: “Disney Day has become a celebration to experience Mojácar from beginning to end. It is a day to enjoy the village, its streets, the music, and above all, the children’s excitement, who will be the ones to light up Christmas as a symbol of what this time of year represents.”

Tourism Councillor, María Gracia Alarcón, highlighted the impact of this time of year on tourism: “The Christmas programme is now a well-established attraction. Every year, visits increase around this time, and events like the Disney Party, the Zambomba, and the Switching on of the Christmas Lights make Mojácar a family and cultural destination.”

Festivities Councillor, Pascual Artero, underlined the Local Council’s efforts in preparing the programme: “We have worked with great care to offer a complete, participatory Christmas full of special moments. The Municipal Band will play a prominent role in the Disney Concert, which will prepare the way for the Christmas Lights Switch-On.”

The Local Council reminds everyone that, due to the anticipated increase in activity, the public transport service has been reinforced to facilitate movement between Mojácar Playa and Mojácar Pueblo. Residents and visitors are recommended to use public transport to avoid congestion and enjoy the event more comfortably.
