Performing research workshop organised by the Fundación Valparaiso starts in Mojácar.
The Fundación Valparaíso, in collaboration with the Carlos III University Chair of Performing Arts, is staging the fourth edition of the Performing Arts Workshop, “Quality” for actors and directors.
On the 9th, 10th and 11th September, the Fundación Valparaíso facilities in Mojácar will be the setting for the workshop, which for this 2021 edition will be directed by Andrés Lima, National Theatre Award, five MX awards as director and founder of the Animalario Company. Andrés Lima will give the classes and will also guide the actors’ stage work.
Andrés Lima has a 35-year professional career dedicated to creating shows. His time at the London Royal Court Theatre, with a grant from the British Council, sparked his interested in creating a permanent research workshop.
With an important professional and personal background, the work will be developed based on what the director, Andrés Lima, calls “Quality”: a conjunction of the “essential” which the text suggests and the “`personal” which the actor suggests.
Lima will share with the participating actors and director listeners his acting directing techniques acquired through years of experience: “It’s a tool, not a method.”
The division of work each day will consist of warm-ups and games, the quality and an interpretation of texts chosen by the actors themselves.
The Fundación Valparaíso is a private, non-profit institution, established in March 1990 by Paul and Beatrice Beckett.
Its purpose is the development of artistic creation and research in the field of fine arts, literature and music, aims which it carries out fundamentally with the residence for artists, writers and researchers at the foundation’s facilities in Mojácar.
Among its many activities, it also provides financial support to any cultural activity or individuals dedicated to teaching and research in this field.
Worth highlighting is the convening of seminars, conference cycles, exhibitions and awards for the various artistic disciplines.
