Mojácar summer entertainment programme
Mojácar Council´s Culture and Festivities Department has launched its summer programme, which has something on offer every day to keep both children and adults entertained.
From the second half of July until the end of August, the evenings in Mojácar Pueblo will be filled with music, film and dance, culminating with the San Agustín Fiesta in honour of the town´s Patron Saint.
For the children, there are lots of fun activities especially for them including sporty games, bouncy castles, trampolines and magic, not forgetting some Superheroes that will be paying a visit. The action will be set up at different points in Mojácar´s Old Town including the Plazas Nueva, Frontón and Parterre as well as the Centro de Usos Múltiples at the Fuente.
After a great day on the beach, everyone then has the chance to enjoy their free time, taking in the local gastronomy with some favourite pastimes, whilst taking advantage of the wonderful evening temperature as night falls in the Town.
Of course, the highlight of this month´s programme is the Night of the Candles on Thursday, 26th, which has become one of the most important dates in the Mojaquero summer. It´s an event which involves all the people of the town, working hand in hand with the Mojácar Pueblo Association of Merchants and the local Council.
As night falls, the lights in Mojácar are switched off, to be replaced by the glimmer of thousands of candles scattered through the streets, houses and shops. On this night, with the shooting stars, the atmosphere in Mojácar becomes more magical than ever.
The dreamlike mood comes alive even more with wandering fakirs, music and street parades, to remind us of the local ancient legends that are ingrained into the town.
La Noche de las Velas is now in its seventh year and has become one of the most important events in the province´s calendar. Its well deserved fame has spread far and wide and, every time more visitors from all over Spain come to stay, as everyone knows that it is an experience not be missed.
