Disney Magic takes over Mojácar: Successful third edition of the family event
Yesterday Mojácar was transformed into a true world of fantasy with the celebration of the third edition of Disney Day, an event that exceeded all expectations and attracted thousands of people. Entire families, many of them dressed up as their favourite characters, went up to the village to experience a day of magic, games and fun for all ages.
The Mojácar Mayor, Fran García, highlighted the success and the importance of the event for the municipality: “We are very happy to have celebrated this third edition of Disney Day with such a spectacular turnout. It is a source of pride to see how Mojácar turns into a gathering point for families who come to enjoy a magical day in our village. I would like to thank everyone who has collaborated on the organisation and the residents for their unconditional support, without which this event would not be possible.”
This year’s edition not only maintained the magical spirit that characterises Disney Day in Mojácar, but raised it to a new level. From first thing in the morning, the streets were filled with colour and joy, marking the start of a day full of surprises. The high turnout of the public far exceeded that of previous years, consolidating this celebration as one of the most eagerly anticipated in the local calendar.
The village was divided into different themed areas, each one designed to offer visitors a unique experience.
• Plaza Nueva was the perfect setting for fans of Peter Pan and Neverland with its impressive ship. In addition, there were characters from The Lion King awaiting the little ones at its viewing point. An extensive gastronomic offer at the “food trucks” was enjoyed in the square.
• Superheroes were the stars in Plaza El Frontón, where Spiderman and Captain America, among others, delighted the children who were the biggest fans of the Marvel world.
• Without a doubt, the impressive Disney Castle located in Plaza Arbollón was one of the big attractions of the day. Children found an unforgettable surprise inside the castle: the presence of Mickey and Minnie.
• The Plaza Parterre was dedicated to fairytales. Beauty and the Beast welcomed visitors with their elegant style, while the world of Aladdin transported those who went along to a faraway land of magic carpets and unforgettable adventures.
• Visitors were able to immerse themselves in the culinary world of Ratatouille in the Town Hall Square, where the theme of the famous mouse chef Remy decorated the plaza.
One of the most eagerly anticipated moments of the day was the spectacular parade of the Star Wars 501st Legion, which went around the village’s main streets, attracting the attention of fans of all ages. Shortly afterwards, at 1.30pm, the public was able to enjoy an impressive family magic show with Alex Herrán, which filled the village’s Plaza Nueva with laughter.
The face painting workshops were also a great success, allowing the little ones to turn themselves into their favourite characters while they went around the different themed areas in their disguises.
Since the first edition, the event has shown a notable growth in attendance and quality, bringing together families, visitors and locals in a festivity that combines fun, nostalgia and entertainment for all ages. The variety of activities, the painstaking staging and the presence of iconic characters were the perfect ingredients for achieving this year’s success.
The event also has a special meaning for the Mojácar’s inhabitants as it connects with a local legend: the possibility that Walt Disney himself was born in this Almería village. This legend adds an extra touch of excitement to the celebration of Disney Day, making it a festivity that not only looks to the present, but also to the history and cultural roots of the village.
