Mojácar increases tourist numbers in 2024 and prepares its offer for winter
Mojácar continues consolidating itself as a leading tourist destination, with a positive balance in the third quarter of the year and preparing to maintain its offer during the low season. The third quarter of 2024 closed with 460,238 overnight stays, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (NIS), which demonstrates the strength of the hotel sector in the municipality
From January to September 2024, Mojácar registered a total of 726,219 overnight stays, exceeding by 32,993 the figures for the same period in 2023. These figures, provided by official NIS surveys, are based on an average of 30 hotel establishments that offer around 8,800 places monthly. It is important to note that these figures do not include the offer in rural accommodation, houses or properties for tourism use or campsites, which means that the locality’s tourist capacity is even greater.
The number of travellers who chose Mojácar as a tourist destination in 2024 has also been higher than in the previous year. Up to September, 197,125 travellers stayed in hotels in the municipality, which represents an increase of 11,853 with respect to 2023. In the summer months the figures were especially noteworthy, with 43,036 travellers in August, the month with the year’s highest numbers.
Despite the end of the high season, Mojácar maintains a wide range of available hotels during the autumn and winter months. The municipality’s rural houses and three campsites will remain open.
Tourist interest in Mojácar has not only been reflected in the figures for overnight stays, but also in the enquiries at the Municipal Tourist Office. In the third quarter of the year, 15,649 people were attended to, bringing the total number of people assisted at the office from January to September 2024 to 33,317. This figure represents an increase of 6,160 people with respect to the previous year.
