Vera Photo Club opens its annual exhibiton at Mojácar´s “La Fuente” art centre.

Vera Photo Club inaugurated its annual show at the weekend at Mojácar’s Municipal “La Fuente” Art Centre with an impressive crowd of friends, artists, townspeople, visitors and club members present, all eager to attend this traditional yearly event that has become known for the consistent quality and originality of the works, as well as its professional presentation.
This year, 20 members displayed a 100 photographs covering various forms such as; portraiture, landscape, wildlife, mural art, nude and abstract. A prize was awarded to Scottish Howard Dickson who lives in Zurgena, for his “dark space” which was judged best photograph, with the prize for the best set of photographs going to Marie Savels, a Bédar resident from Belgium.
Also at the exhibition, there is a chance to see a projection of more than 600 photographs showcasing the best results from the members’ monthly challenges on a variety of different topics, giving an insight to the progress they have made in the exciting world of imagery.
Vera Photo Club is the largest and most important forum of its type in the province, pulling together more than 70 lovers of photography, be they professionals, amateurs or beginners, who live in the Levante and North of Almería. It includes a wide collection of nationalities, such as Spanish, Norwegian, Belgian and Dutch, with a high British representation.
Rod Westwood, a professional photographer from the fashion world, is the group’s President and one of its founders, who always has his camera at the ready to capture his personal vision through his lens.
As in previous years, Mojácar Council has put their Art Gallery at la Fuente at the Club’s disposal, where they have staged this must-see exhibition full of quality images and diversity. It will remain open to the public free of charge until November 30, from Tuesdays to Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
