The “Costa de Almería” beach volleyball closes in Mojácar


Mojácar was the setting for the final of the “Costa de Almería” beach volleyball tournament, closing the provincial circuit that has passed through the localities of San José and San Juan de los Terreros.

A weekend that turned the Ventanicas beach into the centre of the sport of Beach Volleyball and of the best players in this discipline in the province with the turnout of the best teams and many members of the public who didn’t want to miss this final.
The gathering took place over the weekend. On Saturday 16 pairs competed in a tournament classified as local, the Huércal-Overa team being the winners. Mojácar had its own representation with Alejandro Villegas and Daniel Flores.
On Sunday the competition focused on the tour, with 25 pairs competing between the women’s and men’s categories in a day of excellent beach volleyball, with a high level of play which could be enjoyed on the courts set up on the Ventanicas beach, being a perfect setting for the competition and the practice of sport, as well as for holding the different events.
The winners in the men’s category were the brothers Alejandro and Javier Yuste. Darius Cernauskas and José Carlos García achieved second place. Completing the podium were the pair Luori and Dimas from Lorca, classified in third place.
In the women’s category victory was gained by the duo made up of Andrea Narváez and Chanel Valderrama. Second place went to Sofia Smiehk and Elena Abtil, and third place went to Judith Ross and Jana Ross from Granada.
The trophies were presented by the Mojácar Council Sports Councillor, Jesús Montoya Gredilla, and the Citizenship Councillor, María Luisa Pérez López.
Jesús Montoya was very pleased with the good organisation of this final day of the “Costa de Almería” Tournament and expressed his gratitude to the organisation and the sponsors and collaborations, as well as to the many members of the public who encouraged all the players by being there on a very special day on the Mojácar beach
