Mojácar Council starts a beach and natural spaces environmental awareness-raising campaign
Mojácar Council has started a communication campaign to raise environmental awareness among residents, visitors and users of the locality’s beaches and natural spaces through a series of actions throughout the entire municipality.
Attending the presentation were the Mojácar Mayor, Francisco García Cerdá, and his government team: Noemí Linares, María Gracia Alarcón, María Luisa Pérez, Sergio Alonso and Jesús Montoya.
Francisco García Cerdá explained the importance of “sustainability as one of the main objectives linked to the tourism development of our municipality and the conservation of the natural resources as one of the vitally important aims, the beach being one of the priority spaces to protect.”
Mojácar has 17kms of coastline in a succession of beaches that make up a fundamental tourist attraction, especially in high season.
Even though environmental awareness is growing, the Mojácar Council Government Team wants to take responsibility for communicating to beach users both the basic rules for using this natural resource as well as other messages linked to the conservation and environmental protection of the territory.
The main aim of this campaign is focused on improving the state of the municipality’s beaches and natural spaces environmentally and in social awareness-raising so that this is possible.
With this awareness-raising campaign, they also want to emphasize, in a clear and effective way, objectives like keeping the beaches clean, pointing to the coast as a vulnerable natural space. Likewise, it is important to communicate incorrect actions in the use of the beaches, the restrictions, suggesting the appropriate and correct measures and which respect the environment.
For this Mojácar Council has designed a series of communication actions on the matter, which include a short video for communicating the campaign, the installation of environmental awareness-raising messages on the infobus supports distributed throughout the whole municipality and informative signage at the main accesses to the beaches, at the same time as actively working in the natural environment in a sustainable way.
Although this campaign starts this summer of 2023, it will remain active throughout the year.
